Compassion Ministries
Welcome
As a church, we run a number of different projects in and around Nottingham.
They help to support people who are often considered to be the most vulnerable in society, and to meet some of their practical needs.
We aim to keep developing these areas, as they are very important to who we are as a church.
We are excited about the future as our Compassion Projects continue to grow.
Please select from the options below to find out more information about each area.
You can also contact the leaders to find out more, or to get involved.
THE CABIN

The Cabin is an important part of our vision to serve the vulnerable in Nottingham, sharing God's love in a practical, tangible way.
It is a mobile kitchen that serves a variety of hot & cold food and drinks to around 40-50 people on each session.
It is open every Monday and Friday night, from 8-10pm. On a Monday evening, we work in collaboration with a team from Angel Green Christian Fellowship, and on a Friday, we oversee the support and running of the evening.
Many of our regular visitors appreciate the opportunity just to talk and share with another person, as well a place to sit and have some free hot food.
The Cabin is made up of a number of teams including:
|
Cooking Teams |
Serving & Host Teams |
| Clothing at the Cabin This team gives out free essential items, such as socks and pants to those in need on the Cabin. |
Sign Posting Team Trained volunteers are able to "Sign Post" those in need to the wide range of other services that are available in Nottingham, so that service users can access further help and support. |

CABIN MAINTENANCE TEAM
This is a new team that works behind the scenes, making sure that everything is clean, tidy and well stocked for the Monday & Friday Cabin teams.
Volunteers restock the Cabin weekly, doing everything from refilling water for drinks, replacing trays and cups, tins of dog food, and the gas and petrol used to power the boiler and generator.

SOUP RUN
Teams from Trent Vineyard go out every Wednesday and Friday evening to provide those on the street with food, drinks and essential items such as tooth brushes, tooth paste, dog food and socks.
over other nights of the week. This support is vital to the homeless of Nottingham, and is more than just practical help.
As well as giving out food, hot drinks and basic provisions, a large part of what we do is "Sign Post" those in need to other services in Nottingham, where they can find further help and support.
It's easy for everyone in the church to demonstrate God's heart for those in need, as all of the small groups have the opportunity to help serve on the Soup Run (normally each group helps 1-2 times per year, as part of a rota).

Wednesdays 7.30-9.30pm

MENTORING

Trent Vineyard has a number of trained mentors, who support people who are leaving prison or who are living with difficult situations.
We recieve referrals from the Community Chaplaincy service, Prisons, Young Offender Institutes, “Caring For Ex-Offenders” and from within the church.
Mentoring allows us to meet with individuals at a time in their life when they are particularly vulnerable, and give one to one suppor
t and encouragement to take steps towards a more stable lifestyle.

ACT: HOPE FOR JUSTICE

Even in the 21st century, modern slavery is a massive worldwide problem. No country is immune
Research has shown that on average, two children per minute are sold into slavery.
Victims of sexual exploitation are trafficked both from country to country and domestically.
Child slaves can be found working on some cocoa plantations or in factories,(working back-breaking hours in appalling conditions with little or no pa
yment). They are also forced to work as domestic slaves, or abducted into rebel armies.
It is estimated that there are approximately 4,000 trafficked women in the UK, some of whom will be in Nottingham (Stats from the charity CHASTE).
Our ACT Group partners with the charity Hope For Justice to pray for specific situations around the world.
We also explore ways that people can practically get involved in tackling this injustice.
“I feel like they’ve taken my smile and I can never have it back.”

SPECIAL EVENTS - CHRISTMAS PARTIES
.jpg)
For two years now, we have worked with Emmanuel House (an independent homeless charity in Nottingham), to put on a free Christmas Party for those who are in need.
The event includes food, games, live music and a present for every guest.
Each year, around 50 service users from the Soup Run, Cabin and Emmanuel House are invited to the event.
It’s great to be able to help support the work of Emmanuel House and be an extra blessing to those in need at Christmas.

Why do we help those in need?
The heart of Trent Vineyard's vision is to share the gospel with compassion & generosity and a big part of this is to serve those in need.
There are many ministries in the life of the church serving those in need.
This area of the website outlines our Compassion Ministries.
Several hundred volunteers from the church serve in them throughout the year.
