Debt is a major problem in our society, affecting many different groups of people.

At Trent Vineyard, our Money Management Team partner with the national debt charity Christians Agaist Poverty (CAP).

Our team helps people in two main ways;

(1) Providing a free Debt Counselling Service, helping people who are already in debt.

(2) Our CAP Money Courses help to prevent people having money problems and getting into debt, by teaching basic money management and budgeting skills. 
 

Behind one in 9 doors in the UK hides a family in debt

We want to help those who are in debt, whatever their background or religion. 

Our free debt counselling service offers hope and a solution for those in debt. 

We help to release people from their money problems, with a combination of  debt counselling, advice, negotiation, information and practical help.

A Debt Advisor and a befriender visit clients in their own home.

We empower our clients to help themselves, enabling them to manage their money.

Trained case workers from CAP Head Office create a realistic budget for clients and negotiate with their creditors (the people that the client owes money to) to set up affordable repayments.

We aim to support clients over the long haul, helping them to stick to their budgets and pay off their debts, until they are debt free!

Whilst working alongside clients, our volunteers aim to practically demonstrate Jesus' love, by blessing clients in different ways. 

We are also supported by a dedicated prayer team from Trent Vineyard, who meet monthly to pray for clients needs.

Recently, one of our clients said;

“I was in a cycle of debt. I couldn’t pay  anything and never thought I would be able to get help.

I was giving up on everything and had no light at the end of the tunnel. It made me feel sick. The CAP team was brilliant and made everything seem worthwhile again. I don’t know how I would have managed without them.”

   OUR NEXT COURSE:

This is a free simple and effective money management course, that helps you to get control of your finances.

Run by our team of trained Money Coaches, it is a short 3 week course, which we run both in the church and in the community.

The course gives delegates practical training and advice, enabling you to work out your own budget.

We also give advice on how to manage your money and use cash, so that you don't overspend.

One of the delegates summed up her experience of the CAP Money course by saying:

“Before I felt scared and out of control. Now I have more of a ‘can do’ attitude and I feel completely empowered and motivated.”

We regularly put on training events for our team of client befrienders.

Our next session is on Tuesday 9th February 2010.

We will discuss how we support families suffering from the pain of debt and how you might be able to practically demonstrate that they are loved by God.
