Youth

WELCOME

Beyond (11-14's) and Cohesion (15-18's) work closely together and hope to provide a few places in the week where all the young people that want to be part of us can find space to make friends, learn about Jesus, serve in the church and live in the reality of the Kingdom of God.

Both groups meet on Sunday mornings (10:30 - 12:00) where we focus on building positive relationships, looking at the Bible, doing activities and discussing what Jesus has to say about the way we live our lives.

We also run small groups for 15 - 18s and mentoring groups for 11 - 14s. These groups provide a mid week chance to build deeper relationships, take time out and focus on discipleship.

Throughout the year we also aim to take our young people away on residential trips. Time away from their usual environment is a great opportunity to deepen relationships and have fun doing things not always possible at home!

Youth Service

Youth Service happens once or twice a term.  The youth band crank up the volume for worship and we have some teaching that tackles youth relevant issues.  We finish with an opportunity to go a bit deeper in ministry and pray for one another.

BEYOND (11-14)

Beyond meets in the church's youth venue, Lenton House (around the corner from the main building) during the Sunday morning service. Our relational emphasis means that there is time for chilling out and relaxing, as well as worshipping God and exploring what he says in his word. We have a varied and exciting programme.

  • Weeks 1 and 3 - we have fast interactive sessions.
  • Week 2 - we run a youth service with worship, teaching and ministry.
  • Week 4 - we run workshops, which are a great place to bring mates who don't know Jesus. These include sport, fashion, creative, film making, DJing, pampering - the list goes on!

Beyond Midweek Activities

During the school term we run different midweek activities for 11-14s on a Tuesday evening, including 'Big Beyond', 'Beyond' and 'Youth Service'

Big Beyond is carnage! We all come together at the youth venue between 7:30 and 9pm for an evening of chilling out, video games, challenges, ping pong, tuck shop, loud music and dvds.  We also spend some time looking at a topical issue and chatting about how our faith influences the way we live our lives.

On Beyond Tuesdays, we gather in different sized 'mentoring groups' at various locations.  Some groups are really informal, a chance to hang out at the youth venue and eat toast, whilst some prefer to get a bit more involved in looking at the Bible and helping one another with our journey of getting to know God.

We recommend you contact John Bodily to confirm details before coming as dates and times sometimes vary and groups frequently meet elsewhere for fun activities such as laser quest, cinema trips etc. However, if you're ever in doubt there's usually something going on at the youth venue throughout the school term on Tuesday nights so come along and see if you like it!

COHESION (15-18)

Cohesion is the name of the 15-18 age group that meets on both a Sunday morning and a Tuesday evening.

We run 15 - 18s small groups at several locations around Nottingham.  Twice a month all the small groups get together as one big group at the youth venue. We have fun, share our lives, eat lots of strawberry laces, discuss issues and worship, pray and study the bible together.

Sunday mornings follow a similar line to Tuesdays although it's biscuits not strawberry laces. Once a month we get together with Beyond to get involved in workshops-looking at worshipping God with all our talents as well as providing a safe place for the young people to bring their mates who don't yet know Jesus or go to church.

If you fancy coming along, turn up at the youth venue one Sunday or at 8pm on a Tuesday during school term time (dates below).  It may be worth contacting us first to check we're not meeting somewhere else that week (details below).

If you're more of an evenings person, there are a bunch of us that go to the evening service at the warehouse.  We meet beforehand at the Macdonalds in Castle Marina to catch up from 6:00pm and then we walk down to church together.  If you fancy coming, just contact us (details below) to check we're not away that week!

We can't wait to meet you.

THE GRID (SNEINTON)

The Grid is a vibrant youth group in Sneinton which aims to give young people (12-16 years old) an exciting, stimulating and safe environment to build relationships with each other and the team. At present we have 30-40 young people who attend regularly with a waiting list for those who want to join.

The Grid also includes an optional extra at the end of the evening for those who want to stay on to discuss life issues and what this world is all about. At the moment we are following the Youth Alpha course with plans to move on to look at what the Bible says about Jesus, who we are and other relevant issues that teens face.

Friday Evenings (Fortnightly)

7:30-9:30pm next to St Christopher’s Church, Trent Road.
Activities include table football, pool, Playstation, sports, chill out room, games, table tennis, tuck and socials.
