Ministry On The Streets
WELCOME
The perception of many people is that God and his church are boring, always asking for money, and pretty irrelevant to everyday life. So at various times during the weekend, teams from the church head into the city centre to try and change that perception.
Latest story from Healing on the Streets, Jan 2010:
A few months ago a mother and daughter saw the team praying for people outside Debenhams and stopped for some prayer. The daughter had been suffering with lots of mouth ulcers, for months, and couldn’t get rid of them. A few of the team members prayed for them, encouraged them and shared God’s love with them. About three weeks later they turned up at a Sunday service, and told us that the following day after they’d been prayed for, the ulcers had burst and disappeared.... and haven’t come back since!

HEALING ON THE STREETS
Healing on the Streets is one of the church’s initiatives to further the kingdom of God in Nottingham and to give people an encounter with Jesus’ healing power and generosity. Regularly on Saturdays, a team of people go out into town to share Jesus’ love with others by offering prayer for healing, and by handing out small gifts (such as chocolate bars and drinks). These small acts reflecting God’s generosity have led to people being healed and even receiving Jesus.
The team go out into town every first, third and fourth Saturdays of the month, and are based outside Debenhams in Market Square, with a large banner saying ‘Healing’ and a line of chairs. Passers-by often stop to receive prayer, both for physical healing, and for other needs in their lives.

One Saturday, a lady with intense lower back pain hobbled up to the chairs and sat down hesitantly. She found it difficult to sit up straight in the chair as she was in so much discomfort, and explained how she'd tried everything, including acupuncture, to cure her back problems, but that none of it had worked. The team prayed for her, commanding the pain to go in Jesus' name, and then we asked her how she was feeling. She slowly got out of the chair, standing up, and turned to us exclaiming, "WHAT did you do?!?!.... It's like magic!"
Some, like this lady, have had illnesses/injuries healed instantly, others have not. But all of them have had something of God's Kingdom come to them that day. Some go on to visit the church, and some have made the church their own.
We long to see more of these glimpses of God’s kingdom breaking out in the city centre as people are given an encounter with the healing power of Jesus, or a simple act of kindness.
Anyone is welcome to join us for Healing on the Streets on the first, third or fourth Saturday of every month. We meet at 11am outside The Malt Cross, St. James’ Street, and are usually finished by 1.30pm. You do not need any experience, as God gives you all the boldness you need as you step out to share Him with others!

TREASURE HUNTS
A new venture that we have recently begun is the ‘Treasure Hunt’. We ask God for words of knowledge about where to go, (a certain shop, street name, or village for example) and then ask for clues as to who God might want us to meet. (ie. name, appearance, and what the person might need prayer for). We then go out into town and search for that particular person, and offer to pray for them! Over the last few months God has really directed us to specific people – some have even been healed, others have just been touched to know that God cared enough about them to highlight them to us that day.
The next Treasure Hunt is on Friday 16th July, at the Malt Cross, 8pm.
