Girls' Room
“Girls’ Room: a space to relax and get real"
“We are real women, living real lives and we want to be open about how we feel and what we think.”
Hormones, sex, depression, addiction…..There are no taboos in the Girls’ Room. The Girls’ Room run a variety of events throughout the year. We tackle subjects that are relevant to women in a relaxed environment, often over wine and nibbles or coffee and pastries! Hearing personal stories from women in the church as well as experts such as GPs and counsellors, our aim is to be able to talk honestly about any issue and get God’s perspective on it. We are women who know that having a chat with a bunch of girl friends can be the most therapeutic and replenishing thing!

Our time out days are not to be missed! Indulge yourself with a latte, peruse the urban market and enjoy great teaching and discussion. We aim to share our lives and inspire one another as we journey through life together.

Girls' Room Extra
We also run Girls’ Room Extras. These are smaller events hosted around specific activities. We have been mountain biking at Clumber Park, had day trips out and film nights. We run a variety of events for single mums as well as those for young mums (YUMS) and students.
The Sanctuary
These groups provide an opportunity for women to meet together in a smaller settings. Similar to other small groups, these women only groups meet once a month around the city.
YUMs
This group provides an oppurtunity for Young Urban Mums to meet together for pampering, relaxing and a chance to hang out with other young women who are parenting alone. We provide childcare so that the mum's can just relax, take some time out for themselves and indulge in a footspa, hairstyling or a manicure. Over lunch, women from Trent Vineyard will share their own stories of being a mum and share helpful parenting advice.
There is also a small group for single parents which meets in Wollaton on Tuesdays at 10am. Please pick up a flyer from the information desk.

Radical Followership - 30th October 2010
This Girls' Room day will be a great opportunity for women to chill out and relax with friends whilst also providing space to seek God and meet with Him through worship and teaching.
The day will start with coffee and pastries and will include worship, great talks and ministry as well as workshops, pampering, the infamous Urban Market and a fish and chip supper.
Our guest speaker, Juliet Barber, will be exploring what it means to be a radical follower of Jesus. Juliet and her husband Steve lead Leicester City Vineyard and together they coordinate Vineyard church planting and Juliet heads up the theological training task force. Juliet became a Christian 15 years ago in the Vineyard church which Steve planted in Southend. They subsequently led this church together and moved to plant Leicester City Vineyard 3 years ago. They have two children, Emma & Joel, who like to keep them busy! She is an inspirational speaker who is passionate about the Bible and communicates in a relevant and down to earth way.
At this Girls’ Room event Juliet will be telling the stories of two women - Mary of Bethany who broke the rules in order to sit at the feet of Jesus and learn from Him, and Mary of Magda who knew and loved Jesus.
Juliet will look at having to make choices and cross cultural boundaries in order to come to Jesus and learn from Him – a radical followership which involves choosing Him even when it is difficult.
Tickets will be available in the Autumn. For more information about this event or other Girls' Room enquiries, please contact Helen Murphy
