Small Groups
WHY SHOULD I JOIN A SMALL GROUP?
Small groups are the heart of the church. At Trent Vineyard, we are committed to being more than simply a large group of people who gather together on a Sunday.

Small groups provide the perfect smaller setting to meet with friends, a place of support and encouragement, and a place to know and be known.
All small groups vary, and you are encouraged to try and find one that will suit you. During a typical small group evening you might worship together, pray for each other, and have a time of sharing or teaching. Small groups may also organise weekends away, blessing the community projects and social activities.
Essentially they are a place where we can belong, receive pastoral care, grow in our faith and have fun. There is a wide range of groups right across Nottingham and beyond; you are welcome to try any of them.
HOW DO I FIND A SMALL GROUP?
You can see a list of current small groups and their locations in the next sections, or you can pick up a selection of small group flyers with photos and contact numbers of the leaders from the information desk. These have more details about where and when the groups take place.
Feel free to then ring the leaders if you need more information about the group, or you need to know the exact location etc. All of the groups have an "open door" policy and welcome visitors. This allows you to find the group that best suits you, even though it's not necessarily the closest geographically.
STUDENTS
As a student you may also be involved with CU or another weekly Christian group, and you just don't think you can fit a church small group into your week as well. By adopting a small group you can still minister in church and be really a part of it without being committed to going every week.
All you need to do is tell the leaders of the group that you will be accountable to them and attend the group about 3 or 4 times a term. For more information about this please pick up a student flyer.

BLESSING THE COMMUNITY
As a church we really encourage our Small Groups to get involved in planning and running "Blessing the Community" projects on a regular basis. The aim of these are to demonstrate God's love for people in a practical and generous way.

Each small group has a small budget available every few months to think creatively about who they can bless. This can be focussed onto an individual known to a member of the group, or be aimed at a large number of people.
Examples of previous projects include transforming a single mum's garden, giving out £1's for trolleys at Asda, buying pints for people at local pub, building shelving units in a primary school, doing a "Changing Rooms" style transformation for a contact from the Arches, designing and painting a mural on a children's ward and creosoting a street's fences.
Basically the limits are the imagination of the group and we know from experience that many people's perception of God and the church have been changed by these simple acts of kindness.
If your small group would like to get involved in a blessing the community project but have no idea where to start, please contact James Henderson.
